Royal Buying Group's Leadership
Royal Buying Group, Inc. is led by a group of six exceptionally experienced industry leaders who combine diverse skills and proven perspectives to anticipate needs and deliver complete solutions that exceed both revenue objectives and member expectations. Each of these individuals is a member of the National Association of Convenience Stores, Petroleum Marketers Association and the Illinois Gasoline Dealers Association.
Robert Juckniess, Executive Director-COB
- After 20 years in the industry, Mr. Juckniess has earned a long list of awards from Shell Oil Products US. Bob began his convenience store career with a Mobil branded location in Southern Wisconsin. He now operates fifteen contract locations for Shell Oil Products US in Indianapolis, Indiana. Mr. Juckniess earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame, and his MBA from Northwestern's Kellogg School specializing in finance, marketing and international business. Mr. Juckniess is the Chairman of the Board for Royal Buying Group, Inc. His current responsibilities include the management of the corporate, human resources, and legal committee for RBG.
Robert Razowsky, Executive Director-COO
- A 25 year veteran of the Gasoline/Convenience Industry, Mr. Razowsky is president of a Chain of retail outlets in the Midwest market. He is a member of NACS and the Illinois Gasoline Retailers Association, and has been recognized with top honors as Shell Retailer of the Year several times. During his many years of service to the industry, he has served as President and Chairman of local retail councils and chaired many local charity events. Mr. Razowsky has a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from Northern Illinois University. Mr. Razowsky is a Director of the Royal Buying Group, Inc. He serves as a Committee Chairman of the RBG Executive Board; responsibilities include new member programs and category management.
William Butzloff, Executive Director-CMO
- With 47 years in the oil and petroleum business, Mr. Butzloff served as a Regional Manager for Shell Oil Company where he headed the most profitable region in the U.S. for 23 years. He represented the oil industry in the media on behalf of Shell and represented all major oil companies in Washington, D.C. as a liaison during the gasoline shortages of the seventies. As president of the Illinois American Petroleum Institute, he spearheaded innovative legislative efforts affecting both major oil companies and independent retailers. He earned his bachelor's degree in marketing from Indiana University. Mr. Butzloff serves as Membership Chairman of the RBG Executive Board; responsibilities include recruitment of new members.
Martin Gmeiner, Executive Director-CFO
- With over 40 years of award-winning experience in the service station industry -- half as a dealer and half as a Shell corporate employee -- Mr. Gmeiner knows the business from both sides of the desk. He currently owns three stores in Chicago. His first store was an Arco location, now rebuilt into a state of the art Shell ETD location, complete with skylights, exposed beams, and remote refrigeration. Mr. Gmeiner earned his bachelor's degree in marketing and economics from Miami University. Mr. Gmeiner is a Director of RBG and also serves as Finance Committee Chairman of the RBG Executive Board.
Mark Hill, Executive Director-CTO
- A 15-year veteran of the gasoline/service station business, Mr. Hill has represented his fellow retailers on a variety of councils and committees since entering the industry. He currently owns two stores, one a Shell Food Mart and Carwash, the other a complete automotive service business. His accomplishments include a master technician status and advanced engine performance designation by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). Mr. Hill attended Illinois State University. Mark Hill is the Corporate Secretary of Royal Buying Group, Inc. and serves as chairman of the I.T./Web Site Committee of the RBG Executive Board.
Mike Zielinski, President & CEO
- Michael Zielinski has over thirty-four years experience in the convenience store, petroleum, and automotive industries. He attended the University of Illinois in Champaign, IL, majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing.
After college, Michael was an instructor at Indiana Vocational Technical College, teaching various business courses as part of the business administration department. He has owned and operated eleven different retail locations involving Continental Oil Company, Marathon Oil Company, Amoco Oil Company, and Shell Oil Products US. His extensive representation of fellow marketers includes election as the Shell National Dealer Council Chairman in 1995, participation on the dealer councils of Amoco (1988-1991) and Shell (1992-1998), participation on Shell’s ETD Dealer panel (1994-1998), and a participant in the re-launch of Shell’s Auto Care program in 1999.
He is a member of the National Association of Convenience Stores, the National Convenience Store Advisory Group, the California Service Station Automotive Repair Association, the Illinois Petroleum Marketers Association, the Texas Petroleum and Convenience Store Association, the Mississippi Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Stores Association, the New York Association of Convenience Stores, the Service Station Dealers of America-Allied Trades, the National Association of Shell Marketers, and the BPAMA.
Michael participated in the first Convenience Store News Out-Of-Stock focus study, the 2002 POPAI signage study, and attended the inaugural NACS Executive Leadership Program at Cornell University. He has been a guest speaker, panel member, and/or advisory board member at AWMA Distribution Summits, NACS owner/operator committee meeting,2005, 2006 NACS Supplier Board Recruitment and Retention Committee, POPAI results seminar at the 2002 NACS convention, 2003 NACS Convention Committee, 2007, 2008, 2009 NACSPAC Committee, 2004 Food Marketing Institute United Produce Expo, 2004, 2005,2006, 2007, 2008 Outlook Conferences, 2005, 2006 NACS Show Educational Sessions, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 Convenience Retailing Conferences, 2005, 2006 InteleCard Expos, 2005 Dollar Store Expo, 2005 and 2007 Sinclair Oil Company trade show, 2005, 2006, 2007 Asian American Convenience Stores Association Convention & Trade Shows, 2006 SIGMA Winter Management Conference, 2006 Shell Trade Show and Conference, and currently is a participant in the Convenience Store News' Industry Forecasting Council and the NACS Supplier Board. Michael also serves on the retail advisory board of a number of national convenience store product manufacturers and provides consulting services to a number of research companies.
Michael is married to his wife of twenty-seven years, Mary Beth; and has two children, Angela and Andrew. Mr. Zielinski is one of the original founders of Royal Buying Group, Inc. (RBG), a national merchandising and marketing organization representing wholesaler and retailer locations of all brands of convenience stores, petroleum suppliers, college bookstores, and independent pharmacies. RBG represents Shell Oil Products US, TESORO, Sinclair, Gulf Oil, Getty Petroleum Marketing, LUK Oil, NATSO, NASM, AACSA, Pace Alliance, and Connect-2-One with merchandising and marketing services provided for their retail locations. He also oversees Royal Performance Group, a division of RBG, which provides stored value card solutions to top tier retailers in the United States, and Royal Buying Group (Europe) GmbH, which provides sales, marketing, and fulfillment of the Shell PrePaid Card in Germany. Royal Buying Group, Inc. is the exclusive worldwide provider for the Shell Gift Card program. Royal Buying Group, Inc. was ranked #252 on the 2003 Inc. 500 list as one of "America's fastest growing companies", recognized on the Inc. 5000 list in 2007, and most recently ranked #102 on the 2008 Inc. 500 list.
